Comments on Metrolinx’s Draft Regional Transportation Plan (RTP)

The OCC has provided comments on Metrolinx’s Draft Regional Transportation Plan (RTP) aiming to create an effective, integrated, multi-modal transportation strategy for the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA). The OCC welcomes the release of this document as it represents the beginning steps towards addressing the GTHA’s transportation challenges.

However, the OCC believes that the plan must go further to truly address transportation challenges plaguing the GTHA. There are three areas in particular that require more detail in order for Metrolinx to effectively achieve its goal. In order to develop and implement an integrated multi-modal transportation plan for the GTHA the OCC believes that Metrolinx must elaborate further in these specific areas:

  • goods movement,
  • long range planning and
  • sustainable and reliable funding.
