The OCC responds to The Ideas for the Future Act 2008:
- welcoming the bill as it aims to encourage and support innovative new enterprises and recognizes their critical importance in Ontario’s economy
- encouraging the province to strengthen its innovation agenda by broadening the scope of the legislation to allow a greater segment of the private sector to take advantage of this tax measure
- emphasizing the importance that the legislation not increase the regulatory burden to business, and
- finally, the province can further strengthen its innovation agenda by placing increased attention and resources to the protection of intellectual property (IP) rights.
