The Ontario Chamber of Commerce

Letter Regarding Ontario Procurement Policy

Ontario businesses competing in the transportation sector are at a disadvantage, as there are no minimal requirements for ‘Canadian content’ when public funds are used for mass transit projects; yet they face restrictions when trying to win contracts in foreign markets like the US. Ontario’s manufacturers and suppliers are at a competitive disadvantage when bidding for projects in other countries, as they do not enjoy a ‘made in Ontario’ consideration when bidding on public contracts in their own province.
