Pandemic Planning Toolkit

The recent onset of the H1N1 virus, has once again brought to the forefront, concerns about a global pandemic.  Public health efforts are currently focused on educating people about the prevention of the spread of the flu virus, and preparing vaccines for populations at risk.

Like any other major business disruption, a pandemic could have a major impact on business operations, mainly in terms of human resources.  Estimates of up to 50% staff absenteeism have been suggested by health officials.  In order to reduce the impact on operations, and in turn the economy, the OCC has developed a guide to help its members develop a pandemic plan.

The OCC is also currently surveying its members to find out how many have developed a pandemic plan.  A previous OCC survey revealed that roughly 78% of members did not have a plan.
