A committee hearing is taking place today at Queen’s Park regarding Bill 218  which includes a number of tax reform meansures including sales tax harmonization.  The Ontario Chamber of Commerce is making a presentation at that hearing in favour of the tax reforms as the best way to improve business competitiveness and create jobs in Ontario.

The Chamber will argue that the status quo is not an option.  Currently Ontario is plagued with a declining standard of living, widening prosperity gap and high taxation on capital which serves to discourage businesses from investing in new equipment and machinery and from creating jobs.
