The OCC is joining the EUCOCIT (European Union Chamber of Commerce in Toronto) in a joint effort to strengthen the trading relationship between Ontario and the European Union.
The EU is the largest trading market in the world with member states of Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Monaco, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden, Switzerland, Ukraine, and United Kingdom. EUCOCIT promotes bi-lateral trade and investment between the EU (a market of almost 500 million people) and Canada.
Both organizations feel strongly that the Canada-EU Comprehensive Trade Agreement (CETA) is of critical importance and will have far reaching implications for businesses on both sides of the ocean.
In order to help promote the Canada-EU nogotiations, the OCC will help raise awareness about EUCOCIT events or initiatives that relate to the topic. The first such opportunity is theEU10 Economic Update on May 17, 2010.
Two of Europe’s leading Central Bank Governors discuss current economic conditions and future prospects for the European and Global economies. The joint appearance of Governor Noyer of France and Governor Quaden of Belgium in Toronto is a rare opportunity to hear firsthand the views of key players in the European business community and to pose questions.
