I am not sure how the report will impact my small business. I hope that the government would encourage the manufacturing sector and help them to be more competitive. Most Canadians want to buy Canadian, but pricing is not competitive.

It is increasingly more difficult for interior decorators and designers to do business. The big retail box stores are constantly undercutting even the wholesalers. Is this just a sign of the times to keep the cash flow going? i.e. blinds, appliances, plumbing fixtures.

I would really appreciate it if the government and the Chamber of Commerce would look into the exorbitant cost of banking for small retail business. We pay for depositing money! We have no alternative and in fact I know many small businesses are only accepting cheques and cash now.

A suggestion concerning Health Care: it is my personal family experience that there is far too much waste concerning the prescriptions and medical devices sent to the homes of palliative care patients. My aunt was sent a month supply and when she passed away we had to throw out hundreds of dollars of medication and supplies that are considered contaminated once delivered to the home. A weekly/biweekly delivery would have saved hundreds of dollars. This may seem small, but multiply it.

We need to support our doctors with incentives. Many of the GP's have become record processors. They simply forward their patients to specialists.

I believe it would be financially beneficial to crack down on [those]* who do not pay taxes and deal under the table. One of the downfalls of the Greek government was that people avoided paying taxes!

Come January 2013, I can safely assure you that there is currently 12 small businesses as well as mine that will be closing our doors. As of today, February, 14, 2012, I have been informed of five businesses that "already" closed their doors in fear of bankruptcy of compliance with the new WSIB rules. This means, my accountant will be losing future business. (another imminent closure). Any / all who may have had gainful employment for bookeeping purposes will be out of work. And the list will go on. We ALL have been in business for ten years or better with an ABOVE BOARD private insurance provider that has been far more superior for coverages 24/7 than what WSIB could ever offer. Oh, and there is another loser in all of this. Penn Corp Insurance. They will no longer have the clients for insurance if none of us are able to work with the freedom of choice. None of us have considered ourselves to be contributing to the "Underground economy" If the WSIB wants a "Level Playing Field", then maybe they need to work on their own team which is top end heavy. 14 Billion dollars debt ridden . You all had better get on your trains for the golden arches of your guranteed pension plan because come first of the year, there may not be a pension plan left.

Congratulations Allan! It was great to meet you at last week's CEO conference in Guelph. I look forward to discussing how CEO and the OCC can work together to support Ontario's Chambers of Commerce and Boards of Trade. As you know, CEO plays a critical role in professional development, and OCC plays a critical role in advocacy. Together CEO and OCC connect our staff and volunteers and the members on whose behalf we all work and serve. As the incoming chair of CEO I agree with Gerry we are at a critical juncture, as we work on supporting Ontario's businesses of all types and sizes in Ontario's communities of all types and sizes.

Allan: Can we discuss the need to merge the CEO with the OCC. We have reached a critical juncture.
