OBAC Hosts U.S. Ambassador David Jacobson

On February 17, the Ontario Chamber of Commerce (OCC) hosted the first Ontario Business Advisory Council (OBAC) of 2012 with David Jacobson, U.S. Ambassador to Canada.

David noted how the free flow of people and goods is vital to a robust North American economy. He emphasized the need for greater regulatory alignment between the two countries – an issue that spurred the creation of the Canada-U.S. Regulatory Cooperation Council. Read the rest of this entry »

Diversity Makes for a Winning Business Strategy

Of the $360 billion spent by Canadian corporations and government on procurement annually, only 3% goes to diversely-owned suppliers. Outstanding Canadian businesses are seizing on emerging trade opportunities through bridging new connections to suppliers, communities, and countries overseas. These businesses demonstrate how diversity-in-supply chains can be leveraged to enhance innovation and productivity.

Drummond Report Sets Stage for Ontario’s Future Competitiveness

TORONTO:  To slay the deficit and keep Ontario competitive, the Ontario Chamber of Commerce (OCC) believes the government must seriously consider the package of reforms coming out of the Commission on the Reform of Ontario’s Public Service (the Drummond Report).

The OCC supports the innovative nature of the report as it takes a systematic approach to change in very challenging economic times. Mowat Centre and Ontario Chamber of Commerce Release New Economic Vision for Ontario

Toronto – The Ontario Chamber of Commerce and the Mowat Centre at the University of Toronto have released a new, ambitious,and transformational agenda that will enable Ontario to rise above current economic challenges.

The new report, Emerging Stronger, identifies five key strategic priorities for Ontario, and the concrete steps necessary to make Ontario more competitive, productive, and globally connected.
